Library Collection Statistics
As of 30 June 2011, the HKAPA Libraries had a collection of over 164,000 items, approximately 8,000 items were acquired in 2010/2011. Electronic resources represent 26% of the new acquisitions which has increased by 9% as compared with previous year. The number of e-titles has doubled since 2007.
Books represent 44% of the total collection and the English to Chinese ratio is now 7:3 revealing a steady increase in Chinese books. Audiovisual materials make up 24% of the total collection which is inline with the 24% acquisition of AV materials in 2010/2011. Music Score Collection represents 16% of the total collection and 6% of acquired items are scores and orchestral parts.
To allow shelving space for the new acquisitions, obsolete items were withdrawn and the least frequently used items were transferred to our document management services provider. Number of items stored off sites now reached 29,400, about 20 % of the whole physical collection.
