Your safety is of our utmost concern

Have you noticed that a new door has been installed in the Learning Resources Room?

The old door was replaced with a new one that can be open from inside and outside so that it can be pushed open in case of emergency.

Access to other Local University Libraries 使用其他大學圖書館 (updated)

We are pleased to announce copies of institutional Library reader’s cards are now kept at both the Academy Library and the F/TV Library.  With the reader’s card, you can access the respective library’s collection and resources.  This is the end result of cooperation between the HKAPA Libraries and the respective libraries in exchanging institutional reader’s cards for our users.

1. City University of Hong Kong : for staff and students
2. Hong Kong Baptist University : for staff & postgraduate students
3. The Hong Kong Institution of Education : for academic staff, senior admin staff &
postgraduate students
4. Lingnan University : for staff
5. The Open University of Hong Kong : for academic staff
6. University of Hong Kong : for staff & students

The cards could be checked out from the Circulation Counter of the Academy Library and F/TV Library and the loan period is 4 days.

Library Collection Statistics

As of 30 June 2011, the HKAPA Libraries had a collection of over 164,000 items, approximately 8,000 items were acquired in 2010/2011.  Electronic resources represent 26% of the new acquisitions which has increased by 9% as compared with previous year.  The number of e-titles has doubled since 2007.

Books represent 44% of the total collection and the English to Chinese ratio is now 7:3 revealing a steady increase in Chinese books.  Audiovisual materials make up 24% of the total collection which is inline with the 24% acquisition of AV materials in 2010/2011. Music Score Collection represents 16% of the total collection and 6% of acquired items are scores and orchestral parts.

To allow shelving space for the new acquisitions, obsolete items were withdrawn and the least frequently used items were transferred to our document management services provider. Number of items stored off sites now reached 29,400, about 20 % of the whole physical collection.

News about Library Staff

The Library Systems Assistant, Mr. Frankie Ip who recently joined the HKAPA Libraries has got married on 5 Nov 2011.  Congratulations to the happy couple.

Ms. Ling, the Librarian on behalf of the Library Team is presenting a gift to Mr. Ip.  (photo below)
