New Services

The Library Technology Help Desk Services will be offered during 1:00 – 2:00 pm, Monday to Friday in the Academy Library at Wanchai Campus.

You are welcome to address enquiries on the use of PC workstations, AV equipment, printing services, scanning services and mobile devices provided by the Academy Libraries. Questions relating to online or mobile access to library catalogue, e-databases, e-books and e-journals are also welcome.

If you are at the Bethanie Campus, please direct any of the above enquiries to library staff at the F/TV Library during its opening hours.

Temporary Suspension of Off-Sited Items Request Service

You may have noted that due to limited shelving space, the Library has off-sited the least frequently used items to the contracted document delivery service provider since 2002. The provider will, upon request, retrieve and deliver stored items to the Library for use. This arrangement has proved cost-effective.

However, the current service provider will discontinue the present service beginning 1 April 2013. The Library has to look for alternative service provider and has to receive over 25,000 items from the current service provider, re-process and then transfer them to the new service provider by batches of 1,000 items.  It is estimated that the transfer process will take about 4 months to complete. So, we are sorry to inform you that the Off-Sited Items Request Service will be suspended between 17 December 2012 and 31 March 2013.

We will strive hard for an early completion of the removal to the new service provider and please accept our sincere apology for inconvenience caused in this unexpected circumstance.

Please note that statuses of items on transfer have been changed to RE-PROCESS as shown in the below record.

Library Orientation Slideshows

Slideshows of Library Orientation Programmes are being displayed on the iMac near the entrance to the AV Room.

Take a look if you have a few minutes to spare, it will give you some hints on services and facilities of the Libraries and how to make the best of library resources.

From Recommendation to Purchase

The Library will send publishers’ information of new books and AV materials to relevant School and Department for selection. The selected item will be ordered and the Library will alert staff and students of new additions monthly by email. The New Additions List can be found on the Library webpage.  If you have other suggestion, please fill in the online form and we will get back to you whether the suggestion is endorsed or not.

What you need but cannot find…

…is also an important piece of information for us.  Please inform us when you cannot find material that you need for your study and research.  It can be in the form of suggestion of purchase or a simple email to library@hkapa.edu  We will follow up your request and check if the material that you are looking for is available at other local libraries or if it is available for purchase.  We will work with schools and departments to ensure that what we acquire will enhance the Library Collection as a whole.
