Greeting from the Librarian

I had the opportunity to meet with staff and students of the School of Film and Television earlier in December, sharing survey findings of the services and facilities of the FTV Library.  I am happy that the students are concerned about the Library and they use it frequently.

My New Year resolution is “getting to know you” (a song from “The King and I”) better and planning services that suit your needs.  If you have any suggestion about the Libraries and the services we offer, please let me know.  I am all ears.

I wish you all a prosperous new year and may all your dreams come true.

The Olympic Spirit

While you’ve been busy watching the Olympic Games, the Library staff has
been busy lifting books. Over 50,000 books have been reshelved. The
Reference Collection has been relocated to the raised level leaving the ground floor for circulating books with Call nos. A to N. Books with Call nos. P to Z remain on the raised level.

Just as the opening ceremony of the Olympics is characterized by people’s
power, all the books were reshelved by our Library staff and some parttime
helpers who worked extremely hard this summer getting the Library for yet another academic year.

Xin Nian Kuai Le (新年快樂)

2007 seems to have flown by and 2008 has sneaked in quietly. Now that the holiday is over, you may be busy getting ready to celebrate the Year of the Rat. The Library wishes you a meaningful and resourceful year.

In 2008, we will bring you more useful resources in print and electronic and hope that you will enjoy visiting our learning space and using our resources (both physical and electronic). We hope in the years to come, the Library will be a companion to you in your journey of knowledge discovery.
