Learning Resources Room – Additional PCs and iMac station

To better serve users of the Academy Library, we have installed two additional PCs at carrel no. 4 and 5 and one iMac station at carrel no. 11  in the Learning Resources Room.

There is now a total of 18 PCs and 1 iMac in the Academy Library.

New notebooks for loan

Three new notebooks have been acquired (2 English Windows, 1 Chinese Windows).  One of which would be kept in F/TV Library (English Windows).  They have all been installed with the Microsoft Office 2007, Sophos anti-virus, Apabi Reader, CAJ Reader, RefWorks plugin and recovery software, etc.  To check out, you would be required to complete the Notebook Computer Loan Form.  Loan period will be 3 hours and renewable 2 times if it has not been requested by another users.  For more details, please ask the circulation staff.

New scanner at the Learning Resources Room

A new color image scanner has been installed in the Learning Resources Room.  All PCs in the learning resources room are now connected to the scanner through the campus network.  This scanner can accommodate document up to A3 size.

Project on Automatic Access Control

A project automating access control to the Academy Library will take place during the Christmas non-teaching period.  Works include installing an automatic sliding door and a sensor-controlled passageway at the entrance to the Library.  Automatic sliding doors allow easy access into the Library and the sensor-controlled passageway helps to limit access to staff and students with the presentation of Academy ID cards. This will also help to restrict non members from taking up seats and using the computers and other facilities, which in turn cause inconvenience to our library users.

Works will take place during the Christmas non-teaching period. Further details will be announced in due course.

New Scanner in the F/TV Library

A new scanner has been installed in the F/TV Library (see photos).  It supports scanning of high resolution up to 4,800 dpi and can handle photographs, films, slides as well as colour documents.

If you have difficulties in using the scanner, please ask the Branch Library Officer or member of library staff on duty.

iMac in the F/TV Library

A 27″ iMac has been installed in the F/TV Library.  Slides of Library Orientation Programmes are being displayed.  In future, information related to school productions will be included.

Blu-ray/DVD players at F/TV Library

Two sets of blu-ray / DVD players have been added to the PC carrels in the F/TV Library.  Press “ENTER” to toggle between input signals for PC or blu-ray / DVD player.  If you encounter any problems, please ask the Branch Library Officer or the library staff on duty at the counter.

Library Orientation Slideshows

Slideshows of Library Orientation Programmes are being displayed on the iMac near the entrance to the AV Room.

Take a look if you have a few minutes to spare, it will give you some hints on services and facilities of the Libraries and how to make the best of library resources.

The slideshows can also be found on the Intranet for easy reference or for download.

WiFi Coverage Extended to the Library Seminar Room

Users can now connect their notebook computers to access the Internet and campus network within the Library Seminar Room.

Please configure your notebook according to the setup procedure prepared by ITSU (Intranet login required).

Access to Scanner in the Learning Resources Room

The Scanner in the Learning Resources Room can now be accessed via Carrel No. 7-10.

A Switch has been added (as in photo) so that users can choose the No. corresponding to the No. of their Carrel to make use of the scanner.
