Mobile Library Catalogue

The Library is proud to present a mobile-friendly version of the Library Catalogue. You can now use your mobile devices to search the Library Catalogue without a lot of scrolling around and zooming in and out.

This Catalogue allows you to:

• Perform keyword search
• View My Record to perform online renewal
• View Library Information
• And more …

You can bookmark the Mobile Library Catalogue by taking a picture of this QR code with your mobile device.

QR Codes for Library Materials

Instead of writing down the Call Nos. of library items that you have found, you can now take a picture of the QR Code displayed on the bottom right hand corner on the Library Catalogue.  Before going to the shelf to fetch the item, please check to ensure that the item is available.

Searching for Past Performances of the Academy

Have you ever tried searching for past performances of the Academy?  We have created a new material type of “Production File” in the Library System.  You can either browse all production files by keyword, by title and select the material type of “Production File”.

Library Homepage

A flash slideshow has been added to the Library homepage. Popular e-resources and coming events will be highlighted from time to time.  Click on the page and you will be directed to the particular resource and/or information about coming workshops.

Scrolling News on the Main Page of the Library System

Library announcement and headlines of Library News will be posted as scrolling news on the main page of the Library System. Watch out this space.

WebPAC New Features

Do you notice these buttons next to the search results screen on the Library Catalogue? The new WebPAC features provide you a friendly user interface by offering options to link to WebBridge / RefWorks / Google Book Preview and you can even share the search results with your friends on facebook.

What’s New?

Naxos Music Library is one of the most popular e-resources in the Academy Libraries, second only to WiseNews, with a monthly average of around 70,000 hits. To make searching individual tracks easier, Naxos Music is added to the WebBridge interface so that searches can be redirected to Naxos for corresponding music tracks.

My Reading History

My Reading History is a new feature of the Library System (http://lib.hkapa.edu) that allows you to save a list of books or other materials that you have checked out from the Library. You have to activate this feature by logging into “My Record” from the Main Menu, click “My Reading History” button and then click “Opt In”. The system will start keeping track of the titles that you check out. If you no longer want to keep the list, you can delete the entries.

Library Information System

In May 2008, the interface was revamped with a new look. After some fine-tuning, the Chinese search screens are now available. To switch between English and Chinese, you can click the buttons at the top right-hand corner.

If you are not new to the Academy, you may have noticed that the Library System looks different. Images of books covers and DVD covers are now displayed next to the titles. If you click on the image, you find additional information about the title, such as summary, table of contents and author notes.

New Feature of the Library System

RSS Alerts
Apart from WebBridge that was mentioned in the last Library News, there is another new feature called RSS alerts. RSS feeds allow users to subscribe to information such as new additions and the library newsletters. Demonstration will be carried out in the near future and user guides will be published.
